Appeals

In both the state and federal systems, the party who loses at trial has the right to file an appeal.  If you won your case at trial (or before trial), then you may have to defend your victory on appeal.  If you lost your case at trial, then an appeal may be your only hope.  In either case, finding thorough, thoughtful appellate counsel is critically important.

Our litigation team has experience in the Maryland appellate courts, the U.S. Circuit Courts for the Third and Fourth Circuits, and the Supreme Court of the United States.  Our associate, Joseph Dudek, was a semifinalist at Columbia Law School's internal moot court, and has dedicated himself to excellence in appellate advocacy.  Joe's appellate experience at our firm includes:

  • Emergency election appeals to the Court of Appeals of Maryland;
  • Home owners' association disputes, non-competition agreement disputes, defamation disputes, and evidence issues before the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland; and
  • Copyright issues before the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Third and Fourth Circuits and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Great appellate advocacy requires a deep understanding of narrow issues of law brought about by a thorough review of the cases, history, and policy surrounding the dispute.  Our firm is prepare to provide great appellate advocacy.
